Top Favourite Products From 2017 – Makeup & Beauty

Happy 2018! Where does the time go? It runs out nearly as quick as the paper Lucy and I used to write down what 2017 products are our favourites, but in the end we managed to pick our top 10. It was tough and we really had to shorten the list, there are so many good makeup and beauty products out there, but we managed it!

Urban Decay Afterdark Eye Palette: I love this palette, you may have noticed in the previous blog “Go Big, Bright and Bold” (Link at bottom of page). There is such a range of strong, metallic colours to pick from, I use it pretty much everyday, for both a day and night look.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lipstick – Colour Scarlett: I’d not used this range of lipsticks but when I discovered this I knew it was a keeper for my collection. A truly beautifully deep red which works perfectly with a winged eyeliner to create a vintage look. Its so creamy in texture but matte in appearance, Bobbi Brown got it so right with this lippy.

Miss Dior: I am very much a perfume girl and have a few on the go all the time. There’s the day one, night out one, out for a drink with the girls one, but this is my go to and use for any occasion perfume. It lasts all day and smells so good.

Real Techniques Angle Brush : This is great for refining a look. This slim brush is the one I use to blend when putting on pencil liner. Perfect to help soften a hard pencil line and easy precision.

Nivea Daily Essential Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover: I won’t lie, when I first used this I really didn’t like it and the consistency was all wrong. Weird that’s it’s in the top 5 right? Wrong, because I then realised I just hadn’t given it a good shake! My eye makeup comes off easily and quickly, even stubborn eye liner and waterproof mascara.

Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask: It makes you want to put it on your face just by the smell of it, it’s like a spa treatment in a tub. Linked below is a blog/ product review we did in December 2017. I love the fact that it really cleanses the skin and when washing it off turns into a scrub to really get into the pores.

No7 Stay Perfect Foundation: This has been the answer to covering my oily skin and getting rid of that unwanted shine perfectly. Dewy skin great, oily skin…. not so much. The name on the foundation is spot on, it does stay on all day! Just what a girl needs.

Glossier Boybrow: For a natural shape and colour this is the brow product to use. I only recently started using Glossier products after a few friends recommended the brand to me, I wasn’t disappointed and now have a few items added to my collection. It’s another product included in our favourites because of the great lasting power.

Sanctuary Spa Radiance Illuminating Whipped Moisture Creme: My holiday number 1, I do not go anywhere without this moisture creme. I use this a lot when I want to let me skin breathe and give it a break from foundation, and who wants to have a face full of makeup when bathing in the sun? Not me!

Nars Creamy Concealer: I have seen this a lot on social media as peoples favourite for 2017, and honestly i’m not surprised. It gives great coverage without being too thick and by the end of the day it hasn’t moved. I have tried a few concealers and find that it can be common for them to set into natural lines on my skin making it appear thick and give a “cakey” look. The Nars Concealer works with my skin giving a fresh, even skin result.
